Worth Given By God
gives the foundation: God made humanity in His image, male and female. Each person has value because each belongs to the kind of creature God appointed to represent Him.
That dignity does not rise or fall with performance. It belongs to:

- every ethnicity, nation, and social class;

A Living Calling
Being God's image is not only a status; it is a calling. Humanity was commissioned to fill the earth and exercise faithful stewardship over creation (). People were made for worship, truthful work, moral responsibility, family, community, creativity, and loving fellowship with God.
Image-bearing never means that humans are little gods. It means the invisible Creator placed visible representatives in His world. Human authority must therefore resemble His goodness rather than become permission to exploit people or creation.
Damaged, Not Erased
The fall brought distrust, shame, blame, domination, suffering, and death. Yet Scripture still grounds protection of human life in God's image after the fall () and condemns cursing people who are made in God's likeness ().

Restored In Christ
Jesus is "the image of the invisible God" (). He shows undamaged humanity in perfect obedience and reveals God without sin. At the cross He bears human guilt; in His Resurrection He begins the renewed humanity death cannot hold.
Those who belong to Christ are being renewed in knowledge after their Creator's image (). God is not helping people polish a false self. He is restoring them to the truth, holiness, love, and communion for which they were made.
Human dignity tells us a life is worth protecting. The Gospel tells us how that life can be made new.

Questions
Does God Look Human?
No. God is spirit and is not confined to a human body (). The image concerns humanity's God-given identity, moral responsibility, relational capacity, and representative calling. The eternal Son later truly took human nature, but Genesis does not teach that the Creator is a larger physical human.
Does Sin Remove Human Worth?
No. Sin corrupts how people live without canceling the Creator's claim or the duty to protect them. Scripture appeals to God's likeness after the fall when defending life and speech. The guilty remain accountable precisely because they are valuable moral creatures, not disposable objects.
Are People Good Or Evil?
Humans are good in their created identity and fallen in their moral condition. The image explains love, creativity, conscience, and sacrifice; sin explains pride, cruelty, deceit, and death. The Bible does not flatten people into worthless monsters or innocent victims of circumstance. It tells the fuller truth and points to renewal in Christ.
How Should I Treat Others?
Honor their God-given dignity. Protect life, tell the truth, reject partiality, care for weakness, seek justice, forgive, and love even enemies. Jesus joins love for God with love for neighbor because a person cannot worship the Creator faithfully while despising people He made.
