Summary
Forty days after His Resurrection, Jesus ascended bodily before His disciples and entered the heavenly glory of God's right hand. He remains the incarnate Lord, reigns over every authority, intercedes as High Priest, pours out the Holy Spirit, gives gifts to His Church, governs its mission, and prepares to return. The ascension is not Jesus disappearing from the story; it is His public enthronement as King.

A Visible Bodily Departure
describes forty days of appearances and kingdom teaching, followed by Jesus being lifted up as the disciples watch and a cloud receives Him. The angels identify the returning Lord as “this Jesus” who will come in the same manner.

Enthroned As David's Lord
Peter interprets the event through in : the risen Jesus is exalted at God's right hand and made known as Lord and Christ. “Right hand” names the place of supreme royal favor and authority, not the Father's physical anatomy.

What Jesus Does Now
Jesus' atoning work is finished, but His ministry is active. He intercedes for His people, represents them before the Father, rules enemies toward their appointed defeat, sends and sustains His Spirit, grants gifts, disciplines and protects His churches, receives prayer, and opens mission among the nations.
The King At God's Right Hand gathers these royal and priestly functions. The Christian's access to God and the Church's worldwide work depend on the present Lord, not on memory of an absent teacher.
Gone Bodily, Present By His Spirit
Jesus' human body is in heaven until the restoration of all things, while His divine person is not confined. By the Holy Spirit He truly dwells with and in His people across the world. His departure therefore makes possible a worldwide covenant presence that does not require traveling to one earthly location.

Questions
Did Jesus Fly Into Outer Space?
No. Is The Ascension An Ancient Myth? explains that Scripture uses visible upward movement and glory-cloud imagery to signify entry into God's transcendent heavenly court. Heaven is not a distant planet reachable by a taller rocket. The disciples witness a real bodily transition into another mode of created space and God's immediate presence.
Did Jesus Abandon His People?
No. He told them His departure would bring the Spirit's worldwide presence, promised to remain with the Church, and now intercedes as its living Head. Bodily absence is temporary and purposeful; covenant presence is real, and visible reunion is promised.
Is Jesus Really King Now?
Yes. Every authority is under Him, even though not every rebel yet acknowledges it and the final defeat of enemies remains future. says He “must reign” until every enemy, including death, is put beneath His feet. Present opposition does not suspend His throne.
What Does His Reign Mean For Me?
The universe is governed by the Savior who loved you and gave Himself for you. Bring prayer through His intercession, obey His commands above every rival demand, use His gifts in the Church, and witness with confidence. Your Lord is neither defeated nor distracted.
