Does Science Rule Out A Creator?

Laboratory science isolates measurable causes, repeats procedures, and builds models of regular behavior. That method intentionally brackets non-repeatable agency in many settings. If a detector is designed to register only natural variables, its failure to register God does not establish God's absence.

Materialism goes further by claiming reality contains nothing beyond matter and energy. That universal negative is philosophical and must defend itself with argument; it is not a result printed by a microscope.

Equations summarize how physical quantities relate. They do not exist as a machine outside the universe that produces matter, selects parameter values, or enforces regularity. Saying an event follows a law explains its pattern within a system, not why the system and law exist.

Biblical creation makes stable order expected because God faithfully sustains what He made. The success of science is at home in theism: rational minds investigate a rationally ordered world.

A weak gaps argument says, “we do not yet know a mechanism, so God did it.” A positive design inference instead identifies effects that intelligent agency is known to produce—goal-directed coordination, symbolic coding, and selected conditions—and compares causal explanations.

Future mechanism discoveries may explain additional steps. They will still operate within a fine-tuned order and will not show that law, matter, life, consciousness, and reason created themselves without God.

Scripture is not a disposable ancient guess awaiting correction by each scientific fashion. It truly teaches that God created the heavens and earth, made living creatures, created Adam and Eve in His image, judged human sin, and governs creation. Scientific observations are real; reconstructions of unobserved history involve assumptions and models.

Where a model conflicts with the sound meaning of God's word, the model—not Scripture—must be revised. A Universe Tuned For Life and Biological Information And Design show that the evidence itself gives no reason to enthrone materialism.

Natural laws describe what created systems do under stated conditions. A miracle is the Creator acting purposefully in His creation, not a material object rebelling against an independent cosmic government. Agency can add a cause without making regularities meaningless.

God is not one more physical object inside the universe. His action can still have historically and scientifically relevant effects, and design inferences can compare causal powers. The full God question also includes philosophy, history, morality, revelation, and the Resurrection, so laboratory testability is not the only route to knowledge.

Major institutions generally operate with naturalistic origin models, while believing scientists hold varied views. A head count cannot determine whether God spoke or Christ rose. Expertise deserves careful hearing within its field; assumptions and conclusions must still be tested rather than converted into an authority above Scripture.

It is God's revelation, not a laboratory manual, yet everything it teaches is true. Its creation claims concern real history and reality, not merely religious emotion. Science can investigate creation because Scripture's God made an ordered world; it cannot demote the revelation that gives that world its meaning.
